Yellow Arrow Vignette | LUMINATE

a child runs

Cynthia Via

among purple flowers, cotton dandelions

a child runs unimpeded for soft sunset clues

to existential musings not yet formed,

staying as image or thought arising

caught in a smile, enlivened by small legs to cover land,

the reaching for indigo sky, arms to bulbous clouds,

the sway of a hammock, she watches stars,

birds desperate to land for the long night

as blistery blustery wind carries our bodies,

unstuck from the inside, papery leaves

diaphanous over her eyelashes
